The presentation will provides an overview of Software Defined Network (SDN) driven implementation of PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) and programmable Service Flows through the integration of the ODL PCMM plugin, along with practical considerations for successful analysis of SDN architectures and technologies when applied to Cable Broadband networks. It will provide how the ODL platform is used to implement specific PCMM functions within the DOCSIS policy infrastructure. It will also provides practical considerations for successful analysis of SDN architectures and technologies when applied to DOCSIS Broadband network deployments. It will cover real world implementation addressing two specific use case:
  • Telephony - The application of QoS to enhance managed VoIP traffic. 
  • Acceptable Use Policy Management (AUPM) - The application of network-based controls to send web browser notifications.
