The SDN space has become very fragmented with multiple open source and commercial solutions.  Even OpenDaylight itself is fragmented on solutions for network virtualization.  In this talk, we will provide an overview of network virtualization, and discuss how the NetVirt and VPN Service projects came together to create the new NetVirt and not only reduce the number of solutions, but also create a platform on which other applications can be built.  We will discuss our rationale for this collaboration, the challenges, and how it has benefited both projects and OpenDaylight.
