Brent Hermanson

Brent Hermanson leads the Network Infrastructure Services group for Microsoft IT, providing a wide range of network services for Microsoft Employees and Guests. He leads the team through architecture, engineering, implementation, budgeting, service management and the hiring of both technical and administrative staff.

With a strong background across the Infrastructure Services space, Brent has been responsible for managing all corporate data centers, the development and deployment of virtualization and shared storage across the Microsoft IT data center. He has experience with all aspects of financial forecasting, global resource allocation, recruiting and technology direction setting.

In 2008, Brent set forth the virtualization program in the data center which drove multiple year cost savings of $20 million dollars for Microsoft IT. The fundamentals of the program as still in place today, and Microsoft IT has a virtualization footprint that has grown from 5% to over 50% since 2008. He directed the global deployment of 802.11N in 2012-2013 and has consistently delivered large scale infrastructure initiatives on time and on budget. Since joining the Network Infrastructure Service team, the reliability and stability of the global corporate network has increased significantly, and major incidents have been significantly reduced.

Brent attended Western Washington University and North Seattle Community College, was the head Women’s Basketball coach at Bellevue College for 5 years. He continues to be a strong advocate for Women’s athletics in the community.
